# Gestures

In the US Virgin Islands a thumbs up gesture may be recieved as " up your`s" rather than " Well done", as intended. Both loose through missconnunication!

Another miss. You mean miscommunication (and yours, not your’s. And lose, not loose. Oh well). But while on the subject of hand gestures, have you noticed that all TV shows now seem to feel obliged to blur out the most famous American hand gesture, as if the middle finger doesn’t merely suggest an obscene act, but has become obscene in itself? I thought at first the TV people were just being sly, mocking the tightened FCC regulations of recent years. But the practice is so universal I wonder if the FCC has actually promulgated an official ukase demanding pixellation of offending digits.

Worse yet, you’re in the wrong forum. I think you might be trying to respond to a thread in General Questions about hand signals meaning different things in different parts of the world.
