I’ve always been surprised that they haven’t tried to sue Clan MacDonald, since IIRC, the current chief is, in fact, named Ronald MacDonald.

Well, I’m going on a tangent in this zombie, about Disney.
I used to decorate cakes at Wal-Mart, and we dreaded it each time a new Disney “princess” movie came out. Getting the authorized stencils or topping toys lagged behind the opening of the film.
Ring, ring!
“Hello, Wal-Mart bakery, how may I help you?”
“I’d like to order a cake for my daughter’s birthday with Ariel on it.”
“I’m sorry, ma’am, but we haven’t got the Disney decorations yet, so we can’t make Ariel”
“Can’t you just draw her freehand?”
“Sorry, no. We’d be in violation of copyright, and Disney is very protective.”
“I won’t tell anyone!”
“We still can’t chance it. We can do mermaids. We could even do red-headed mermaids, but we just can’t make them recognizably Ariel.”

I’d love to know how that last part became part of the ruling.
