Is Obama supposed to ignore China’s dumping of tires? Free trade is great. Dumping is not free trade, and needs to be stopped. ---

Economist Brad de Long has a nice [post](http://delong.typepad.com/sdj/2009/09/barack-obama-does-something-really-stupid-tire-tariffs.html)on this issue. Yes, it’s a dumb move by Obama but it probably won’t escalate into something serious. Obama is not a protectionist and his economic team understands the virtues of free trade.
