No, I’ve never been in an Amsterdam coffeeshop. I’ve never been in any mainland European country other than France, where in my college years I had a wonderful long weekend with a lovely college friend. I’m 99.992% sure that ghosts don’t really exist, but there have been enough stories of them over the centuries, including from some very reliable sources, that I’ll concede a tiny possibility that they do. Have you ever seen a ghost? ---

No, nor do I believe in them. As a kid, I used to play late at night in a large, open (no fences) cemetery. If I didn’t encounter one then, I probably never will. Most Thais do believe in them, but the wife tries to be logical. Still, she feels funny about going into cemeteries. One dark night in Kanchanaburi province, the shortest way to where we were going was to cut through a cemetery, and she refused to follow me in. We had to walk all the way around. She does not believe in ghosts, but her cultural training was just too strong. Do you have a regular bar hang-out, someplace where everyone knows your name? ---

Sort-of. Actually a burger joint; they comment when they see me, and they know what I’m going to order, but still ask anyway. Have you ever been completely convinced about something personal that turned out to be completely and utterly wrong? ---

Well, I just found out the other day that Gibraltar is not an island, but a tiny peninsula. I lived in England for 11 years and I’ve been to Spain a couple of times and even seen _The Living Daylights_, and I was utterly certain it was an island. Do you have any gay relatives? ---

I think I have gay relatives… but if so they’re closeted, so I can’t be sure. I have gay friends, though. Have you ever paid more than $20 for a T-shirt? ---

Yes, but it was tailored for my dad. I don’t know if that counts. We’re exactly the same build- I’m just a half-inch taller- so I can wear his shirts, trousers or coats quite comfortably. Not his shoes, oddly- my feet are a full three sizes bigger than his or my brother’s (who is also build almost identically). Have you ever worn a full-body animal costume (like a gorilla suit)? ---
