Just as clarification, any thread is open for participation by any Doper. The overall topic may be geared toward a certain subset–men, women, conservatives, liberals, anime fans, whatever–but replies are not limited to just those folks. Anyone who wants to offer a perspective is free to do so. We don’t foster an atmopshere of “only X need reply.” If a thread wanders around a bit, so be it. Happens all the time. Veb ---

I mean, it’s obvious your issue with Kaitlyn seems to have little to do with the post, and everything with an annoyance with Kaitlyn in general. For what it’s worth, I read the poll thread without really knowing any of the players, and I interpreted \*\*Kaitlyn’s \*\* mini-hijack as an absurdist bit of humor. I found it funny, and it sure didn’t seem to derail the thread much. . . ---

Just wanna pop in to say: 1. I have never found Kaitlyn to be snide, or an attention whore, or that she “chunters on about her sexuality”. 2. Knowing her, I assumed that the “How dare you” was a joke. Just another instance of how emotions don’t come through the pixels. 3. This gets my vote as “Pretty Lame Pit Thread of the Week”. Not “Lamest Pit Thread” y’understand. Just “Pretty Lame”. 4. What “fucking facts” did Kaitlyn and/or Priceguy **not** get right? ---

I can see how people might have missed **Kaitlyn** ’s joke if they weren’t familiar with her posting style. It was pretty obvious to me, anyway. Even if it weren’t a joke, and the post was meant to be entirely unironic, **paulberserker** is still acting like a total choad about it. **Priceguy** started that thread, he didn’t seem to have a problem with her contribution to his thread, so what the fuck makes any of this your business, **paul**? I can understand how my first post could have been misinterpreted when taken out context, and if **Priceguy** wants an apology I’d be glad to offer it here and in the other thread. I’d have gone on my merry way had it been anyone else starting that thread. Here’s the context. We’ve been flirting for four or five days now over in the picture thread, where’ I’ve been teasing **Priceguy** about his not being allowed to participate in a virtual pillow fight–it’s for ladies only. There has been a lot of flirting going on there and in the flirting thread, guys flirting with girls, gay or bi guys with other guys, and a couple of instances of straight ladies with other straight ladies, but a lack of interest among the straight guys to flirt with other guys. I assumed this was what prompted **Priceguy** ’s OP, and I followed him over from the picture thread to give him the same kind of “you’re leaving me out” jab he’d been giving me there. It was a joke meant to be taken as absurd on it’s face. The tone was one of Mock Outrage, which I thought would be obvious. Apparently, I wasn’t obvioous enough. It would be easy for anyone who hasn’t been following that thread to misinterpret the joke. Pretty much everyone in a relationship thread will identify their sexual orientatiion inderectly by making reference to their SO. I see no reason why my being gay should exempt me from doing so. ---

The thread wasn’t opened because of the flirting threads, though; this is something I’ve been thinking about for quite some time. I hadn’t even noticed the phenomenon you describe of women flirting with everybody but men only flirting within their orientation. It’s just coincidence that I opened the thread now. ---
