I hate this program and want to uninstall it. Unfortunately, I have three or four files on it that I really can’t live without. Whenever I search for them in my hard drive, I can’t turn them up. Probably they’re being held on a remote server somewhere. Is there any way to get my files out of WinMX and into my computer?

WinMX is merely a peer-to-peer file transfer program. If you’ve downloaded the files you were looking for, they are probably still on your hard drive. Try looking in a directory called c:\program files\WinMX\downloads or something similar. I no longer have WinMX installed on my computer but I think that’s the default download directory.
