# Getting rid of ads

I am a paid member whose subscription expired today, but it will not let me renew. Is there any way to extend my status w/o ads until the boards are configured to let me pay again?

As odd as it sounds, I believe discussion about wyats to block ads is discouraged (although it’s not hard to do).
I’d just like to add that I would like to hear about how re-enabling the ability to subscribe is coming along. For the past week it seems I can’t _give_ away $15 to this message board.

You don’t have to [pay] for now. Just follow the instructions above and get your subscription extended for free until the payment system is back up.

I am both patient and I have a bizarre fear of email, so I can just wait until subscriptions are re-enabled.

Since there is now a greater emphasis on display of ads to users on the boards there will be less tolerance of threads devoted on how to block them. General discussion on the topic will be allowed but not much else.

If the SDMB is effectively paying me $15/year to have ads appear, I agree we should suffer in silence!
