My guess: enough fans of the old to make a profit on opening weekend, and then if it’s panned by the fanboys thereafter (like all other recent 80’s-nostalgia revivals) and sinks, who (from the studio) really cares? The franchise wasn’t going anywhere anymore, so as long as they keep the costs relatively low, a small profit is still a profit.

Ghostbusters 3 has been “a go” for nearly a decade. I’ll believe it when I’m at the window buying my tickets. Until then, even a Ghostbusters 3 trailer is suspect.

I’ll believe it when I see it. It seems like they’ve been “making” it for as long as Duke Nukem Forever has been in production.

Oddly, they were calling the recent Ghostbusters videogame “Ghostbusters 3” in some of the interviews about it (IIRC).

Ghostbusters 2 was a letdown?
What! It had one of the most awesome moments in cinematic history! I wonder what giant large object will come to life in Ghostbusters 3! I’m hoping for the Lincoln Memorial vs. the Stay Puff Man in a showdown for the ages personally.

I agree. Part 2 is the best of the two. Vigo the Carpathian was a great bad guy for the movie. But I still wonder why the didn’t just use Vad Tepes. It seems clear to me that Vigo was based off him.

“What was will be! What is will be no more!”
And I loved Janosh as the Renfield. Yeah, Ghostbusters 2 had almost the exact same plot as 1, but it was still done well and fun to watch.

I’m glad they’ve convinced the original cast, writers, and director to return. That must of been tough. Rick Moranis retired years ago. It’ll be great seeing him again.

Yeah, the second movie gets a lot of shit, but I like it. I thought it was fun and funny and I loved the scene with the Statue of Liberty walking down main street.
“I’m afraid the vibrations are gonna shake her apart. We should have padded her feet.”
“I don’t they make nikes in her size Ray.”
Like **Justin** I’ve been hearing rumors about this for years so I’ll believe it when I see it. Considering all the tapping of 80’s nostalgia with long after the fact sequels and movies based on cartoons it seems like it may just be possible right now though.
