# Ghostbusters 3 is a go

An all women cast could work but I hated The Heat so the writer doesn’t inspire optimism in me. Also think rebooting is stupid. The world of the Ghostbusters 25 years later is a much more interesting idea and just placing the movie fresh in the present. Ghost Selfies! bleech!

I loved _Freaks and Geeks_ so much that Paul Feig can do whatever he wants and I’ll never complain.
But an all-female reboot of _Ghostbusters_ is about as far from what I’m looking for as I can imagine. I’d rather just watch the original again.

Well, probably, since he didn’t want to do another movie. He was willing to give his opinion on a dream cast for it, so his response wasn’t to throw rocks or anything.
Dan Aykroyd has said that the 2009 [Ghostbusters video game](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghostbusters:_The_Video_Game) was essentially the “third movie”. All the principle actors returned to do the voice acting (and physical likeness) for it and Aykroyd & Ramis had script input. If you ever wanted a third “real” Ghostbusters, that’s as close as you’re ever going to get.

I think the word “reboot” is being thrown around way too lightly. At the risk of channelling Opal, a film and one sequel hardly constitutes a series that can even be rebooted. It’s almost like calling the 2012 version of “Steel Magnolias” or the female version of “The Odd Couple” reboots.

Well, the franchise also includes the Real Ghostbusters cartoon and several video games which all have the same principle characters. There’s probably comic books and stuff too that I’m not aware of. Anyway, the franchise is larger than two films.
I guess it’d really depend on how they approached it. If it occurs in the same world as the previous films then it’d just be an extension. If the previous “Ghostbusters” world never happened and you’re just starting all over with four women, I think “reboot” is appropriate.

I’m feeling slightly misogynistic for thinking these roles just aren’t suited for women.
Besides, even if they recast it with men, I don’t think that magic can be rekindled again. The chemistry between all the original actors was nothing short of sublime.

The good news is that you can still watch the original anytime you want and this movie won’t affect your ability to do so! Isn’t that neat?!
It’s not a reboot anyway, it’s actually going to be a sequel to the original movies.
I’m into it. I love Paul Feig and I love the female talent he hires for his projects, so I have a great feeling this will be awesome.
The original guys better have cameos.

It can be redone with an all-female cast, easily.
I’d go with Allison Janney, Sarah Silverman, Mindy Kaling, and Rebel Wilson.

Wait, what? This is contrary to everything else indicated here?
Anyway, I’m going to be the dissenting voice - I don’t think there is anything that could usefully be done with a ‘sequel’ at this point. This is a comedy movie, not some grand epic. I’m not interested in seeing a “post Ghostbusters world.”
I think given the right cast and a good script that this could be a real winner.

That’s what I heard this morning but I’ve also seen contradicting info. I believe it will start a new series of films and will be separate from the original stories - but won’t be a “reboot” where we’re seeing a group create Ghostbusters for the first time or whatever like in the original movie.

He goes on to say anyone from the original films would be welcome back for a cameo “in a different role” so no Dr. Venkmann providing ghost-busting advice or Ray Stantz arguing with an EPA official in a background shot. It’s a whole new world. A reboot, not a sequel.
