Ghostbusters RPG (OOC thread)

Correction: I’ll be leaving tomorrow morning. Feel free to puppet me around.

Have fun!

…or do lots of business stuff. I don’t know. Whatever you’re doing, do the hell outta it!

Yes, so we’re basically waiting to see if we can get driven to the Hall of Records in time. Otherwise, we’ll go to the library.

If the party ends up trying for the Hall of Records and getting there a few minutes late, I’m sure Gerald can make a pretty good run at fast talking the group’s way in.

A '79 Impala with Police Package includes: station wagon suspension and wheels (large bolt pattern), heavy duty stabilizer bars, 350 4-barrel, deluxe trunk package, spotlight, extra dome light, lock-out of first gear, positraction rear axle, split bench front seat with station wagon upholstery, lock throttle, etc.

Seems to me you’ve put some thought into the car question already.

You’ve described the Impala as a rental, previously, in the IC thread.

I’d like you, and the other players, to decide as a group about this. Which car do you want? JT has no problem purchasing the Impala and selling the Suburban; he’ll even help you finish converting it.

It’s your choice, if it interests you to personalize these things, by all means do so! The car, your uniforms, the offices, whatever… if it’s gonna be your business, your team, then YOU should decide what it’s like between yourselves. Whatever you want, you’ll get (within reason.)

Of course, once you do, it’s MY job to try to take it away from you! Maniacal laugh! Maniacal Laugh! Maniacal laugh!

The parts are examples of what can be added to the Suburban, which is still the better vehicle. The Imapla is rather worn out due to being a popular rental.

Was “My cabbages!” from Avatar? Nice reference.

So, what should we do with our info.? I’m not sure Kris is smart enough to make any kind of plan with the info, and to be honest, I’m not sure I get all the connections between our ghost and what we have learned so far.

Could you, or preferably *each *of you, please post for me a summary of what is known about this haunting? Go into whatever detail you can, and specifically point out what details you think you are missing.

It would help me to see where I might be lacking in terms of storytelling and plot hooks; I know what I think is happening, but how well have I made that clear to the players?

Seeing your versions would let me see things through your eyes, which isn’t easy from way out here in GM land. Then I can tell you what I’ve forgotten to tell you, whatever that might be.

Yep! I believe Aang can shave the squirrel.

Part of me want to just give you all the answers now; in fact, I just deleted a post where I did so (with spoiler tags).

But this is a mystery game… and I believe you all can solve the mystery. You have all the clues you need, it’s just a matter of putting them together.

A few of the clues were subtle, yes. But you have ways of clarifying them, if you choose. You just have to realize that this is the thread you need to follow. A good way to do that is to compile all the information you have and see what you come up with… the missing bits are what you need to ask about in the game!

I have faith that you can do this. I also believe you WANT to do this; that’s the game, after all.

I could be wrong.

Don’t take this as me being angry with you, or frustrated, or hurt. I want us all to have a fun gaming experience and this is my attempt at doing that. Your feedback is needed to help me do so. Let me know what I can do to improve things, please!

–Your friendly neighborhood GhostMaster

PS: I saved the spoiler post, so if that’s really what you all want…:dubious:

I’m fatigued from cross country journeys, but I will do my best to summarize my understanding later. Phnord, give us a shot and some time. I know we’re on the 24 hour cycle, but we may need a bit more on some turns. I agree we should post our summaries and I will try to do so later. Been up for a really long time right now and need some sleep.

Louis and Gerald… I’d like your input on this too please! Ideally, you should all be discussing events amongst yourselves.

As long as you’re still having fun, or at least think you can still be having fun, I’ll keep the game going.

I’m having fun and insist on continuing, even if you must find new players to join me.
Ahem, here is my understanding, though forgive my errors. This is me, not Kris, reasoning it out.

The phantasm is Marie, who was left in a coma after getting in a car accident. Her husband Ralph insisted she get in the car, which crashed into a truck.

She entered a coma and was placed at this medical facility. Ralph, I think, wanted to pull the plug on her, but…was not allowed? She basically is a lost soul now because she spent the rest of her days without closure stuck in a coma.

And this is where I’m confused. After the lawsuit, the building went into possession of her husband Ralph? And he did what…nothing with the building?

Also, Roll20 is working rather poorly for me right now and I’m having hard time cycling through the documents. I’ll re-read.

I could have sworn it sometimes calls her Marie and sometimes Alice, by the way, though I can’t check it now.

Louis has been waiting to see what everyone else does.

Oops… you’re right, it probably does! Originally her name was Alice (Ralph and Alice… bang, zoom!) but then I realized there was already an NPC named Alice (the newspaper lady) and by the time I noticed I’d already posted her name (the NPC) and it was too late to edit on the Dope so I changed it on Roll20… but apparently I missed one. :smack:Thanks for the notice, I’ll look into it.

As far as the story goes, that’s like 99% correct; and considering what I wrote, it’s a perfectly reasonable assumption to make. The one, small, error can be corrected by talking to someone who was there at the time.

100% correct.

A reasonable conclusion from the information given.

100% correct.

I have no problem whatsoever letting each ‘turn’ take as long as it needs to, as long as I know that you’re still playing and you’re still having fun. (Y’all, the plural ‘you’.)

That does seem to be his modus operandi; what do you, the player, think about the situation? Is Mahaloth’s interpretation correct from what you read? How would you change it?

Johnny Bravo is, presumably, still out of town and isn’t expected back until this coming weekend sometime.

Thanks for your feedback; it may not seem like much, but it’s helped me quite a lot already!

Looks fine to me, wouldn’t change a thing.

OK, so what should we do? I’m leaning towards having Kris use his woman schmoozing skills to gracefully explain the situation to Marie and ask her to join Ralph in the afterlife. He is dead, right?

If that doesn’t work, we can blast her and try to get the trap to work right this time.

Whatever you choose to do is fine, but until you choose to do something the game cannot continue!

It may help to consider what the phantasm wants. What has she been shown to like? What has she been shown to dislike? How can you use this information to produce a solution?

If nothing else, ask J.T. what he would suggest… but I would urge you to avoid this, because it can easily lead to a puppet situation where your characters just do whatever I tell them to do, and that’s no fun for anyone! However, he is there to assist you, so if you have no other ideas you may consider this.

Don’t give up now, you’re so close to finishing this mission!
When all else fails, do something crazy!
OK, fine. I suggest we go in, proton packs charged and a trap ready. I will attempt to talk to the ghost and reason with her. If that doesn’t work, let’s trap her and contain her.
