According to [this](https://web.archive.org/web/20130405095814/http://www.wcyb.com/news/Who-should-claim-Mountain-Dew/-/14590844/16051420/-/ky7a6f/-/index.html), it’s probably something none of us have ever heard of. > They had opened a business there and since **soda in the 1930’s was only a regional thing** , they couldn’t get the soda they preferred to mix with their liquor. I’m guessing it was “Pappy’s Orange Fizzy” or some other thing only sold in Knoxville in the 30s.
