# Gift ideas for college graduates? Female, that is....

If she’s the sentimental sort, that would be a great gift. I’ve handed over heirloom jewelry on occasion. I gave my daughter a cocktail ring I’d received from my grandma, when she moved halfway across the country for a new job. I also gave her some cold, hard cash, and tipped the moving men.

The one thing I didn’t have when I moved into my first post-college apartment that I’d had while living at home and for four years in the dorms? A desk. I ended up putting together a desk using Skandia components from Container Store. (I think at the time it ran me around $250 or so). Twelve years later I’ve replaced the desk with something more traditional, but I still use those shelves and have happily carted them from home to home.

🙂 I got my license at 29, only because I moved away from the city and needed to drive. It did cost me $100s for driving lessons.

If she’s a save-the-planet type, you could buy an animal at Heifer in her honor, or lend money through Kiva, with her getting the repayments back later.
