I know of 2 other people who were unable to pay a gift membership - the money was credited to the account of the person paying instead of the giftee. Anyone else had this happen? ---

It’s been a while, but last time I gave someone the gift of membership, it was straightforward and worked nicely. ---

The gift subscription plugin was broken by the recent upgrade to the vBulletin version. If you have submitted a gift subscription that did not work correctly please send an email to [webmaster@straightdope.com](mailto:webmaster@straightdope.com) with the details. Include your username and the username of the person you were giving a gift subscription too. I’ll make manual changes to apply the gift. For the time being I’ve disabled the ability to give gift subscriptions until I have time to analyze the old plugin and determine what is needed to get it to work on the new version. Jerry ---

I’m confused. Jerry said he disabled that feature and offered a workaround to apply gift subscriptions. Didn’t that process work? ---

I think he offered the workaround only for those who had already done the gift subscription and were having trouble making it work. I think. (I may think wrong - often do.) 🙂 ---

Thanks. Also, how is it that that was your 10,000th post? Don’t get me wrong, as a Deadhead I couldn’t have thought of a better benchmark post, but just momentarily amazed at the low number. Did counters get reset or are you a pseudo lurker despite the high profile? ---

Unfortunately the answer to the status of gift subscriptions is that I do not have time to implement them again after the version upgrade. So until something changes gift subscriptions will no longer be an option offered by the SDMB. My apologies. Jerry ---
