# Gifts You'd Suggest

Two gifts materialized on my kitchen island yesterday and I wasn’t expecting either. That officially made it a good day.
I’m so pleased with each that I thought it might be nice to have a “Suggestions” thread whereby Dopers could share ideas regarding neat things they’ve found this season that might be a match for that certain someone on another Doper’s list who’s hard to shop for.
Here’s the two that pleased me greatly.
- **A smoked turkey**. This was especially cool since there weren’t enough leftovers to satisfy us after Thanksgiving this year. For you Texans, it was a Greenberg turkey out of Tyler, but there obviously are many such vendors nearer your neck of the woods.
- **Fleece lined slippers**. Mrs. lieu bought 'em for my Pop but I tried 'em on and we’re gonna get him a replacement pair. These L.B. Evans are incredibly comfortable and even have little rubber pads in case you’ve got to step out for a second to get the paper or another stick of firewood. They weren’t cheap at 70 bones a pair but I searched my sole and decided I’m worth it.
Have you come across something so worthy you’d recommend it to a friend?

**Magazine subscriptions** are nice, they necessarily have to have some thought behind them, which is always good in a gift. Not to mention they’re usually pretty cheap for a gift that keeps on giving all year long
