I used to get gas at [one of these](http://www.pjchmiel.com/photo/signs/pump-n-munch.jpg) all the time. I spent six years working at a [Kum & Go](http://www.1984.org.uk/~hemingray/kumgo.jpg). The founders of the company were William Krause and Tony Gentle, and they wanted something to fit their initials, K and G, thus they came up with “Kum & Go.” They’re a little sensitive about it. For instance, while I was working there, they stopped carrying Hustler magazine because they featured a picture of a Kum & Go 4th of July parade float. ---

There is a family here in Las Vegas that opened a chain of gas stations - the family name is Terrible so you can see Terrible Gas everywhere here…and they took over the truly terrible Continental Hotel/Casino, re-modeled (did a decent job) but now you can go to Terrible’s Casino (across the street and down the road from The Hard Rock)…I don’t envy the guy hired to do marketing for that place. ---

I think I’ve posted about this before. Here in RI we have a small independantly owned Chinese place called the “Fu Ming” Restaurant. But whoever did their parking lot signs didn’t know how to use proper capitalization OR spacing, so they say “Parking for FUMING customers only.” Makes you wonder where the satisfied ones get to park. ---

Don’t know if it’s still there. And as another aside, there’s also a Big Bone Lick state park in Kentucky. Passing those signs on the highway always made me chuckle ---

We were wondering when we were driving around in Vegas. We figured it was just people who wanted to call their chain Terrible, for some unknown reason. I think I must have seen it here on these boards, but I had heard about the Town Pump (i.e. the local floozy), and didn’t realize there were actually gas stations called The Town Pump in the U.S. I pretty much did one of these the first time I saw a Town Pump sign there - :eek: 😃 (For some reason, Jim’s favourite sign in the whole U.S. was the Pawn-a-rama. That just tickles him.) ---

A friend of mine had a photo of herself taken in front of a restaurant called “Shatan Chinese Food”. It was impossible to call the place and not hear “Shat on Chinese food!” when they picked up. ---
