I heard a rumor about Ginger Altoids on this very board several months ago, and searched high and low for them to no avail. Perhaps, I thought, nothing that yummy-sounding could actually exist. Maybe it was just a figment of my imagination, I thought. Well, yesterday, I went shopping at a place called Cost Plus World Market (like Pier 1, only better) in search of a shade for my computer room window. Well, I didn’t have much luck finding a shade, so I went over to the foreign candy department. I wasn’t at all expecting Ginger Altoids–after all, I’d looked there before–but _there they were_! The golden box shone like the Holy Grail. And, they are every bit as good and as curiously strong as I expected them to be, to boot! I’ve been disappointed by some of the other non-peppermint Altoids offereings, but Ginger Altoids deliver. Sweet and spicy! Yummm. ---

So you _can_ find Ginger in the North. 😃 [sub]don’t hurt me…[/sub] On a related tangent, I found the Holy Trinity of gum: Beechnut, Clove, and Blackjack, all at a local hardware store! Bought four packs each, and wanted to buy the whole section. 🙂 ---

**Derleth** , I wonder if that’s a Montana thing. I used to be able to find those gums every few years or so when I lived there–but, since I moved to Minnesota, I’ve never found them once! Just to hijack my own thread, I knew a family with the last name of Derleth, too, in the Manhattan area. I know Havre’s nowhere near Manhattan, but I’ve often wondered if there’s a connection. ---

I’ve been enjoying ginger Altoids for several months. This may mark me as a freak, but I do wish they were a little stronger. Don’t get me wrong, they’re good, but they could use some more, UMPH! ---

Indeed they do exist. I have an unopened tin sitting on my kitchen table. I enjoy ginger flavoring, but I’m betting these are strong. So I haven’t mustered up the courage to try them yet! ---

I’m surprised that they seem so scarce elsewhere in the country. I’m pretty sure I saw them at my local Target a few weeks back, sitting there by the cash register with all the normal candies. ---

**FallenAngel** , if you want ginger candy with more oomph, go to an Asian grocery. I found a ginger candy at a Korean store a few years ago that about took the top of my head off. Even my son, who likes stuff like that, could hardly eat it, it was so spicy. Me, I’m a wuss. I’ll leave the ginger altoids to you crazy folks. ---

Jeeze Derleth, Montana’s a big state and all, and I know Havre is sorta out there, but Manhattan is in the Gallatin Valley in SW Montana. ---

Ginger Altoids… I don’t have any in this area, and no Trader Joe’s around to get them at either. ☹ So, I have my sister in Las Vegas and my Aunt up in Chicago send me care packs every so often. 😃 And, what’s great: I’m the only one at my household who’ll eat 'em.
