For some people, a bath tub isn’t something to “get in and out of.” It’s where you lie down and relax for a while. Maybe read.
Given the tragic nature of the situation, the press apparently has not intruded and asked a bunch of pesky questions; the family seems to have made limited statements. Apparently the Consumer Product Safety Commission will conduct an investigation that may reveal more details, but it’s not clear how we would be informed of them if they do.
I can still do without my phone.
She had to receive 120AC. I didn’t read the details, but that could not happen from a healthy transformer/adapter that was stepping down the power from the wall to the phone. There was either a faulty transformer that didn’t step down the voltage/amperage, or as others have speculated, she might have used an extension cord – possibly an older one that had been cut open somehow. I doubt it was from wet fingers at the socket.
I have a Master’s Degree in Instrumentation and electronics, but it has been a long time since I was in school. Apparently power supplies now rectify 110v and use a DC-DC converter to step it down to 5v.
Yeah, I think he had good things to say about the ones that are on sale in the UK high street pound shops too - which was a bit of a surprise, but I guess they are more exposed to litigation than some internet factory outlet selling from halfway across the world.
Sony is the most fun with their waterproof phones - their current stance is “Hey, you can use our cool waterproof phone to take pictures underwater while you’re swimming or diving, but please don’t”
Yeah, I heard it’s not tea bag.
That’s one of the reasons Apple removed the headphone jack from the iPhone 7.
I was really more just trying to find a nice way to ask Acey for a cite on the phone being fully charged or not inject made up information into thread.
AvE is the best, love his vijeos, despite not understanding 2/3ds of the stuff he talks about. I’m more on the software side, will be checking BigClive out tonight. Not an electrossian, but I remember there was a brouhaha about usb-c cables from many vendors not being up to the task, could this have been the culprit? Then again, the ole extension cord in bath-tub could have just easily done it.
ANother one to check out is EEVblog if you want to add an Aussie accent to the mix. I don’t know AvE’s stuff that well, but Big Clive and EEVblog have kept me well entertained as well, even though I have no idea what half they’re talking about means.
