Root for the Iraqi soccer team. They’re the consumate underdogs, have pummelled some of the soccer world powers, and AFAIK are still moving forward. It’s the feel good story of this Olympics!
Well it’s too late to root for her, but you can congratulate Zimbabwe’s Kirsty Coventry. Prior to this Olympics, no one from Zimbabwe had ever won an Olympic swimming medal. Coventry pulled a hat-trick, winning one each gold, silver and bronze.
She will also (ahem), return for her senior year of swimming at Auburn University, where both the men’s and women’s swimming teams will be going for their third consecutive National Collegiate (NCAA) Championships this coming season.
