# Give me Your Drug Slangs

I’m sure many of these are already on your list, but hopefully you’ll pick up a couple of new ones:
**Tab** - Seems to be regional. When I lived in Pennsylvania, tabs always meant hits of LSD. Here in Louisiana, the term is only used to refer to MDMA pills.
**Rolling** - Under the influence of MDMA.
**Blowed** - High on marijuana. This term seems to be more common in, but not exclusive to, Southern Black culture.
**Bong rip** - Same as “bong hit,” but slightly less common.
**Robotripping** - Taking large amounts of DXM, the active ingredient in OTC cough syrups. The “robo” prefix comes from the brand name Robitussin.
**Spent** and **Cashed** - Both mean the same thing - a pipe or bong that has no pot left in it. I’ve heard the former up North and the latter down South.
**Cone** (_chiefly European, but often spread to Americans via foreign college students_) - A joint that is cone-shaped. They are almost always longer than a regular joint and are sometimes quite huge.
**Bowl** - A fairly generic term applied to pipes and bongs. “I smoked a bowl,” could mean a few tokes from a tiny pipe or massive hits from a 6-foot bong. It can also refer to a pipe itself (e.g. “Check out this new bowl I bought”), but I’ve never heard it used that way for a bong, except when referring to the actual bowl-piece part of the bong.
**Shotgun** - This one has its roots in the Vietnam War, when U.S. soldiers would blow pot smoke through gun barrels. See the movie _Platoon_ for an example or the documentary _Grass_ for Vietnam-era footage of the practice. It has since come to refer to the practice of placing the lit end of a joint in one’s mouth and blowing the smoke out into someone else’s mouth. I’ve heard Southern Blacks call this a **Charge**.
**O** and **Zone** - An ounce of marijuana.
**Q** and **QP** - A quarter pound of marijuana.
**Bow** and **Elbow** - A pound of marijuana.
**Primo** - Older potheads use this term to refer to high quality marijuana, but it has another meaning more common among young people. A primo is a joint or blunt laced with cocaine.
**V’s** and **Blues** - Valium
**Bars** and **Handlebars** - 2mg Xanax bars
**OCs** and **Oxies** - Oxycontin
**Double-dipped** and **Triple-dipped** - LSD paper that has been allegedly soaked two or three times in the chemical.

**Blues** - 10mg Valium/diazepam
**Yellows** - 5mg Valium/diazepam
**DFs/DF118s** - dihydrocodeine (even though they don’t have “DF118” on them anymore)
**Jellies/Eggs** - Temazepam (although they are now tablets, not jellies or eggs)
**Brown** - Heroin
**White** - Crack Cocaine
**Phet** - Amphetamine (dexamphetamine sulphate)
**Green/Juice/Jungle Juice/Linctus** - Methodone linctus
**Soap Bar** - Hashish (9oz bar looks like an oversized bar of soap)
These are all from the UK, specifically from the London suburbs. To the best of my knowledge they are used all over the UK, though.

ecstacy: pills, beans, chips, roll - can be used to describe one pill or a ‘roll’ of 100 pills, adam, MDMA, e, candy.
(most of those are pretty obvious… but, what the hell… )

How about Sid or Sidki? Both are terms used here for illegal, homemade alcohol.

A little more detail:
Buttered–able to walk and speak, but with the feeling of walking on a slick floor and having a thick, buttery tongue.
Blittered–short for “obliterated,” this describes a deeper state. Staring at the world through a lace curtain, the subject is very unsteady in his motions. “A li’l blit more o’ that, and I’ll be passed out.”
Toasted–with the heating reference, this usually means smokables were used to acheive a pleasant state.
Zowed–A state of surrealistic absurdity, brought on by superb comedy, illegal drugs, or both.
Viet vets brought back “Shot Away” to describe a helpless, barely conscious state. The subject was not literally wounded, but for all the sense he could make, he may as well have been.

Hero can also be used as “heroworship” (smoking).
“Green Sweater” is used by a friend of mine as a reference to pot.

Hotboxing=putting someone (possibly unwilling, maybe not) into a small encolsed area, like a closet or a refridgerator box, and blowing pot smoke into it so the person inside gets high. One of my friends wanted to catch a squirrel and hotbox it in her backpack.

South African drug slang:
Dagga = Marijuana (Pronounce the g’s like the ch in loh ness)
Buttons = Mandrax (an outlawed tranquiliser abused only in SA)
White Pipe = smoking Dagga with crushed Mandrax from a bottle neck
There’s probably a helluva lot more that I just don’t know.
