Watched it last night. Was OK, but I guess I missed a lot of the humor your folk appreciated. The phone dinging and security door slamming was merely pointless and annoying for me. The ONE thing that would interest me in a possible rewatch was to see how Miles acted towards Helen when she arrived, knowing that Andy was dead. If Hugh Grant were a butler, would he appear as flustered and overwhelmed as he did? Of course, I’ve never been a fan of Agatha Christie. But it just didn’t really hang together for me. Just seemed like an effort to cram a whole bunch of stuff in for the makers to say, “Aren’t we clever!” But I am apparently in the minority. Didn’t at all see the point of the stoner guy. And why did the big guy and the blonde get to bring +1s, but the politician didn’t bring her husband? I really didn’t get the “point” of the assistant character - Peg? Upthread someone mentioned a young black woman acting and a bunch of middle aged people reacting at the end. Weren’t they all approximately the same age? ---

Sure, but rich guy coulda sprung for a nanny - or they coulda afforded one (their financial situation never really developed and they seemed to live in a pretty nice house.) Just struck me as odd - and unexplained. ---

That’s a trip i would have gone on without my husband when we had little kids. So it didn’t seem strange to me. Finding a nanny in the midst of the pandemic was especially fraught, too. ---

Yeah, but it kinda plays things both ways. She is apparently wealthy and powerful, hosting a TV crew and managing a campaign. I gotta imagine folk in that situation had less difficulty finding support (a relative, at least) than we hoi polloi. ---

Well, having a hanger-on is part of the brand for the guy, and having an assistant is very vapid-starlet. I’m guessing the politician didn’t want hubby around for any meetings where secrets might be shared. She didn’t think much of him by appearances. The future-fuel subplot was clunky and distracted from the mystery. It could have been any theoretical idea except for the payoff at the end. ---

What exactly set off the Mona shield, and how was it reset? IIRC, it first went off hen Miles flicked his lighter - which I somehow interpreted as sensing the heat/flame as a potential threat. But why would it go off with a phone ping? If that sensitive, would/did it go off with every raised voice, dropped item, hourly dong? And when it kept raising in response to the repeated pings, did someone press the statue to reset it over and over? At the end, did it go up every time she dropped a statue? Or had it gone up the first time and stayed up? And we all watch things differently, but to me it was obvious that Miles handed the other guy the drink. Funny how I missed so much else that you guys mention, but that was just blatant to me. Maybe I noticed it BECAUSE I was blind to so many other “distractions.” ---

The 'Big Guy’s +1 was Whiskey. Whiskey and Miles were in bed together on the island - One of the points that showed that Miles was the one that killed Andi was that his alibi for where he was on the night of the murder was broken - he had been in NY to visit Whiskey (gave her a necklace), and had almost pancaked the big guy while leaving Andi’s house. Of all the +1s he might have denied - he would not have denied the ‘big guys’. ---

Nobody _wanted_ to go to Miles’ party even though they pretended they did. They (even the +1s) were all there to kiss up to the boss and/or ask for favors. ---
