Not to throw a bucket of piss on this rant… …but I don’t see where the deep outrage comes from. Take any fine-art medium and the people who become successful or famous may not always be the most qualified person out there. There are probably better unpublished writers than Jude Devereux or Dick Francis. There are probably better unknown painters than Keith Haring. There are probably unsung actors who can emote rings around Melanie Griffith. And? So? It may be a little whacked, but I’m not sure it’s worth deep sense of moral offense that seems to torture some of you. They’ve got something. Looks, marketing, a reputation, enough talent to get by, good management, a fan base, or the ability to be in the right place at the right time. So be it. They lucked out. Is it that you can’t stand that they’re getting rich? I admit that’s galling. ---
