Does anyone know where can I get this recording? It was played in schools when I was a kid…in the 60’s. I think Robert Preston was singing it.

Well, it’s available as an mp3 on KaZaA. I don’t see it on eBay or Amazon.

Yes, it’s sung by Robert Preston, written by Meredith Willson (yeah, the Music Man guys).

The formal title of the song is just “Chicken Fat”, subtitle “The Youth Fitness Song”. It was published in 1961. I remember my first grade class being led through the record’s exercise routine by a nun in full habit.

It’s one of those songs I sometimes can’t get out of my head for days. I had the 45 when I was 8.

_Give that chicken fat back to the chicken
and don’t be chicken again_

They were playing this one in my Elementary School in the early 70’s. I know that I’ll have this one in my head for the next few days.
