There was just no sleeping here last night. I knew not even to fight it, so we grabbed our clothing after the win and went “crusin” like all real Brooklynites do. Lots of yelling, honking, fireworks and pot banging. Didn’t seem as loud as when the Rangers took the Cup tho. ---

I was on AOL IM with my boyfriend when the game was still tied, very near the end. He, a Yankee fan, decided to go to bed. “But what if they win?” I said. “So they win,” he replied, obviously not convinced that they would. “G’night!” And off he goes. Shortly thereafter, they’re up by two… shortly after that, they’ve won 🙂 I almost called him to wake him up and rub it in, but I thought that might be too cruel. (Hey, Satan-- great link! Ha!) ---

What’s your point? What woolly means (and me too), is that it isn’t really a world series - granted, the best baseball in the world is probably played in the US (or Canada, e.g. the Blue Jays), but the monicker “World Series” just seems so, well, arrogant to us foreigners. Moreover because you Yankees only declare a “world series” (baseball) or “World champion(s)” (basketball) if it in fact happens to be a sport you’re GOOD at 😃 I shall hijack this thread no further: party on! Yeah they won big whoop!!! But christ what an old team, old, old, old, their roster looks like an old-timers game. Next year they aren’t gonna be able to win, because it’s awfully hard to pitch and run bases when they have to use walkers. So New York fans enjoy this victory while you can, 'cause the piper is gonna come calling next year and it’s not going to be pretty. Keith ---

Although I would have preferred if the Series had extended to 6 and Clemens had kicked The Mets’ ass once again, thus assuring himself the MVP and silencing his critics once and for all.
