Goddamn fuckin Canada!

Isn’t it funny that I, an Albertan, never EVER heard of an Alberta Clipper until I left and moved East?

So BLOCK THEM.

I’m not Raygun, but I send dozens of pieces of mail per day at work (via Canada post) and I never put the address in ALL CAPS. All of my envelopes have the addresses clearly typed, so legibility isn’t an issue.

Canada Post addressing guide (large PDF) says that:

There’s probably only five serial killer documentaries.

No, Johnny Dildo will still be an asshole, but other people just won’t have to deal with it as much.

No, but I’ve received many pieces of mail from the US, in the past and recently, without the address being in ALL CAPS, with no apparent delays. And that’s leaving aside the domestic mail (why have a separate rule for domestic and foreign addresses?). Canada Post often recommends block cap letters for addressing for clarity’s sake, but it’s never been a requirement.

We don’t want you either.

I have a question: Do Canadian postal workers ever go postal - or is it a strictly American phenomenon?

Maybe the reason parcels north of the border take so long to reach their destination has to do with the fact their employees aren’t put under such strict time pressures. For all we know, the Canucks higher rates get filtered into employees’ wages - and no one ever feels the need to grab a rifle and blow away a dozen co-workers over a lousy $25K/year, high-pressure job.

More likely, it’s massive subcontracting within the system. There are many things I miss about Canada, but the Postal system is NOT one of them.

Yes, it usually is more expensive to ship to a separate country than to ship domestically.

Rates to ship things from the US to Canada are set by your postal service, not ours.

For what it’s worth, I once attempted to purchase a camera from amazon.com, which plonkingly informed me it would not ship that item to Canada at all. I have no clue why; it cheerfully ships books and other artifacts. By a happy coincidence, though, a friend was scheduled to visit me from the US the day before I left on my vacation, so I ordered it and had it shipped to him.

Similarly, I’m told that many Montrealers who do a lot of business on eBay and such keep a PO Box just across the border in Vermont or New York.

Yes, but they merely give their co-workers a stern talking-to.

That would require him to read instructions which is clearly contrary to his nature.

Most of the merchandise on Amazon is actually being sold by several different companies, each with their own shipping policy. They also have feedback for each seller, like ebay (here is a seller who offers cameras, for example).

With the exception of media items (Movies, music, etc.), Amazon.com doens’t ship to Canada. However, Amazon.ca does

I have read this entire thread, and I have yet to be reassured that there is, in fact, fucking in Canada.

Frank, darling, there was fucking in Canada as recently as last night. While I don’t have any sort of documentation or a website you can refer to, please take my word for it. I’m still walking funny.

That’s what I was afraid he meant, but I was giving him a chance to explain what he said in a way that made him sound less idiotic than someone who would assume that Canadians would celebrate the American Independence Day.

You know what I think is going on here? I think the OP has his nose out of joint because Canada is daring to act like a sovereign nation; that his American ass isn’t being kissed properly by lowly Canadians. You know what, buddy? We don’t need you. Keep your crappy tapes, and we’ll just keep our fresh water, our hydro-electric power, our softwood lumber, and our oil. Hah! How do you like that?

Phew! That’s good news! I was beginning to get worried.

Oh, but Frank? There won’t be any fucking for you. Just for those who are already there.

Frank, you have heard about the wait lists in Canada, right?

You missed the unkindest cut of all:

We’ll keep our beer! :stuck_out_tongue:

I knew I was missing something on my list. And we’ll keep our top grade durum wheat, too! Try and eat proper pasta without good wheat!
