# Godzilla He Tastes Really Neat (Is He Made of Turtle Meat?)

From today’s AP Newswire—
"‘Godzilla Meat,’ actually 3.5 ounces of corned beef from Tokyo toy maker Takara Co., is packaged with pictures of the stomping, fire-breathing, irradiated dinosaur made famous by Toho movies that started coming out in the 1950s. ‘People can eat Godzilla and become energetic and powerful. It’s got dreams mixed in with fun,’ Takara spokeswoman Yoko Watanabe said Tuesday. ‘It’s like Popeye and his can of spinach.’ The cans, slated to appear in Japanese stores in October, will sell for $4.75, Takara said.
Also planned for sale in Japan this fall are Godzilla Eggs, can of about 15 quail eggs, and Radon Meat, canned barbecued chicken named after the winged monster. Takara also plans to sell King Ghidora Meat, but buyers will find the taste of the three-headed dragonlike creature suspiciously like Godzilla Meat - it’s the same corned beef inside."

I know so many people who will want this…
When they transliterated the titles “Rodan” siometimes came out “Radon”, for some reason, so I’m not surprised to see it here.
Eve, an artist friend of ours, Lee Moyer, once did a wonderful picture called “Godzilla vs. Rodin”, that showed a huge foot (a la “Bambi vs. Godzilla”) descending on “The Thinker”.

Because Radon was the original name of the movie (and, of course, of the monster) called, in translation, Rodan (since he was created by radiation.).

IIRC (IMDB doesn’t list the reason, but when Spacebar on Space (Canadian SF channel) showed it, they mentioned it), the reason for the change was a trademark issue.

This thread amazes me, for no other reason than the title is an MST3K allusion, and the OP is **Eve**.

You may recall that Raymond Burr was in the American version of Godzilla (he was added as an American reporter). Barbara Hale was nowhere to be found, cooking on her Amana RadarRange, I guess.
