TubaDiva and the mods have given me permission to post this. This is not easy for me. It’s embarrasing to beg for money. I’m trying to pick up the pieces of my life but I need some help to do so. I’ve started a GoFundMe campaign for help due to a medical disaster that occurred last year. My cousin got rear-ended by a pickup truck at very high speed while riding his bike on the highway a couple of years ago. The stem of the seat impaled him in his rectum and the bike was unrecognizable. It was a miracle that he survived at all but he had no medical insurance and the medical bills were close to $1 million dollars. His mother asked the family for donations, we talked about it and then declined to give anything. It wasn’t because we didn’t care - it is because we do. Paying off bills like that would break the bank of a whole lot of people. We told her to tell him just not pay it and declare bankruptcy. That is what it is for. Even if we gave thousands of dollars each, it wouldn’t have made a dent in his medical bills. ---

I will pony up a modest amount. I am sorry for what you’re going through. I know perforation is a “known risk” for that procedure, but have you discussed with a good lawyer the possibility of a lawsuit? ---

Glad to see this taking shape. I encourage all the folks who have been following this, and those who haven’t, to do what they can. We may yell and scream at each other a lot here in certain forums, but it’s a good community at heart. ---
