# Going to Catalina

I am planning a mini getaway, say 4 days 3 nights. Thought Catalina Island might be nice. Any recomendations as to the best place to stay on the Island?

Recomendations:

1. Get some gas.
2. Fix your motor.
3. Turn on your Doors tape.
4. Ignore the guy with the wiseass obscure jokes.

I suggest one of the cheaper, more rustic motels. Catalina is interesting- they have an Aviary with no birds, a casino with no gambling, and a mausoleum (Wrigley) with no one buried there. It’s been years since I went. Try a “Catalina Cooler” if you drink. Go fishing.

Or if you want a more upscale experience, the premier hotel on the island is the historic [Metropole](http://www.hotel-metropole.com/home.html).
