I guess I really should start a GQ thread. I saw more than a few abbreviations that I had no idea what they were about. Guess I lead far to sheltered a life. And this is as far as I hijack this thread. Promise. ---

I’m female, so my experiences are likely to be a bit different from yours regardless of your internet dating forum, but here’s my tuppence-worth: I’ve used OkCupid and Craigslist to meet people, and the yield is much lower and much dicier with CL. Had a much lower batting average (emails : responses) on CL, and even lower (response : meeting in person) ratio. I posted a picture once on CL - just a regular pic on me in a t-shirt, mind you - and got numerous cock shots and prepositions in reply. On a dating site, even a free one, there is a bit more of a screen (albeit a screen with holes large enough for flying palmetto bugs to fly through). It’s a bit more of an investment time-wise, but worth it if you’re half-way serious about meeting someone. ---
