I am fucking starving. I live half a block from the “open 24 hours” Jack in the Box … … And I get this guy, mopping the floor, telling me, "It’s 4AM, and that’s when we clean the grill blah blah blah … So they can’t feed me. Okay, fine, I stomped the half-block back home. Still fucking hungry. OMFG, THAT IS NOT HOW YOU DO IT! Goddam, I’ve been working in restaurants, professionally, for 32 years. Customer walks in … you feed that motherfucker! However you have to do it! ---

You seem to have mistaken “corporate fast food dispensing machine” for “restaurant”. Sucks to be hungry even if you’re in no danger of starving. I know how weirdly disappointing it is to not get fed once you form the immediate expectation. You feel so, … , violated. I keep “emergency rations” (nuts, jerky, etc.) around for just such occasions. ---

I’ve seen fast-food places that are open 24 hours a day, but the interior closes at some point. Drive-through is still open. If the JITB does not have a closing time for the dining area, call the 800 number and complain. They might give you a coupon or something. ---

I don’t even consider fast-food restaurants that go “drive through only” at night to be “open”, unless they also serve non-car owners. Thankfully, some JITB locations keep the lobby open 24 hours a day. These are the only ones I patronize. ---

It’s the same reason so many other arbitrary rules exist–the fast food company higher-ups have this pants-shitting phobia of lawsuits, even though they are in little to no legal danger from someone ordering a Whopper with cheese while riding a Schwinn. If someone runs them over in the drive through, the legal fault is on the driver, not the restaurant. Others also add in the irrational fear someone’s gonna try to rob them through the window. As if that can’t happen when someone’s driving a Chevy. :smack: ---
