Died out only 50,000 years ago? Man, we just missed 'em. 1,000-pound geese. Now THERE is something to have nightmares about.

Is it just me, or does that skeleton resemble a smaller T. Rex just a bit?

Man, I’m thinking dinner, here.

Who’s got the howitzer?

Howitzer my @ss.

A Howitzer would reduce our good goose dinner to Goose Hash! 😛 And who wants that?

Where’s your Sporting Blood, **Johnny C**? A good old fashioned elephant gun would do the trick just fine.
🙂

There appears to be some question about who would be having whom for dinner.

I guess parks and, golf courses wouldn’t need fertilizers anymore. The patrons might need a [bear suit](http://www.improb.com/news/2002/may/troy-new-suit.html), though.

_Honey, where’s the bear suit and elephant gun? I want to hit the links…_

Now, I might be a city gal and all, but all the geese I’ve seen have–whaddya call 'em–WINGS! If that’s the complete skeleton, where are they? If they’re completely vestigal, fine, but wouldn’t that rather major taxonomical difference make them more akin to rheas or moas or whatever those big extinct Aussie birds were?

I’m just not seeing the goosiness here.

Large, flightless birds; ostriches, emus, our giant goose, _et al_, either have vestigial wings or none at all. So, no wing sockets.

_Ahem_ Rheas come from South America, and they aren’t extinct yet, while moas (extinct) lived in New Zealand.

Suddenly Anthony Edwards seems much tougher than Tom Cruise.
