With this board, I feel it is as important as ever to regularly use quotes. I’ve almost gotten in a couple fights from misunderstandings because someone hit the + button instead of directly talking to me. But that eats into the precious 3500 character count. Yeah, I don’t like novels as much as anyone, but can we get this increased significantly? ---

There is one person and only one person with the permissions to make changes like that to the site’s software, and that person is currently dead. ---

Oh? I didn’t know that. Sorry to hear. Not to be insensitive, but will somebody else be able to make executive decisions at some point? ---

Yes, in case you missed it (it’s been discussed in a number of threads, including being stickied at the top of this forum), [TubaDiva passed away suddenly last week](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/tubadiva-has-passed-away/914121/403). As @engineer_comp_geek notes in [the stickied thread](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/admin-functions-temporarily-unavailable-no-name-changes-no-other-admin-functions-available/914185), they are working on appointing a new admin for the boards. ---
