Well the good news is, I don’t have cancer. Hooray. The bad news is: I need another major surgery. Last summer I had my stomach operated on. There were complications and it was touch and go. Worse, it made my symptoms worse, not better. 4 weeks ago I went in for an experimental procedure. They saw some cells that they didn’t like, tooks some biopsies and pulled out. Luckily the biopsies show I do not have cancer. Unfortunately, I now have no alternative, I must have surgery again. I confess, it is not macho, but the thought terrifies me. Last summer is too fresh in my mind. I’m scared… But I guess all we can do is take the cards life deals us and play the best hand we can, eh? The good news is: No cancer! ---

A friend of ours has required repeated treatments and surgeries for skin cancer. On her face. And she’s quite attractive (when her face hasn’t been freshly carved up). And her work requires her to appear in public and look presentable, so it messes with her income. She gets so sick of it soemtimes, and I don’t blame her. At the same time, when we commiserate with her, we remind her how glad we are that treatment options are there. So hang in there and keep your chin up. And be glad for technology! ---

Keep your mind on the good news. You _don’t_ have cancer. Go ahead and be scared, it is normal. But you can handle it with a little help from your friends. ---
