Good Omens - by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman

I picked up Good Omens just before the weekend, and was most of the way through it when I opened Cafe Society yesterday and saw this thread. Hustled to finish it last night, so I could jump in here without worrying about inadvertent spoilers.

I thought it was a very good book. I wouldn’t put it in my top five yet, or even my top 50, but then I’ve read a lot of books, so that’s no insult. In addition to being enjoyable for all the reasons I find Discworld novels enjoyable, I thought it was even thicker with great one-liners than most of the Discworld books I’ve read. I’m gonna have to re-read just to jot down my favorites.

To me, it had the feel of a Discworld book; the main difference was the setting, so add me to the ranks of those who are clueless about why people who dislike Discworld find Good Omens so enjoyable.

I personally see Agnes Nutter being played by the late Katharine Hepburn when she was 70-ish.

Katharine Hepburn is alive, turns 96 next month, and would probably be unhappy to hear you describe her as being dead. Here’s her IMDb page:

Read it. Loved it. A friend recommended it to me and lent me his copy, and I read it almost in one go. Incredibly funny stuff, even for someone like me, who is no Apocalypse-freak like my friend is.
