They provide (authorize) not only the fewest meds but also only the cheapest ones, in spite of what the prescribers have decided is best for you and your health, You often have to ‘fail’ at multiple other courses of treatment before you might, just might, get the best drug for you and then only if your doctor can and will do a laborious appeal/appeal again dance on your behalf.
I have Kaiser. You just go online and they mail the drugs to you. If it is a new prescription, they do it like
Very cool. Is that a Kaiser specific thing, or any HMO?
Probably a Kaiser thing; they are vertically integrated. They offer health insurance, operate providers (doctors and hospitals), and serve as their own PBM.
But the hospital where my doctor practices has a pharmacy. They are nonprofit, and are sometimes slightly cheaper than other pharmacies. They will also mail drugs to me.
They are one of four pharmacies in my records, and i need to ask each doctor to send scrips to the right one, though.
(The others are a local pharmacy, costplus drugs, and Express Scripts. I think everything is cheaper if i avoid Express Scripts, except on the rare occasions when the drug is expensive and they cover it. )
Mostly- Some other coverages offer it, as
