# Good site for computer codecs?

I need to download codecs since windows 10 is not playing some older media files and clips. Miscosoft is not offering any on their website and has a warning not to download codecs from “unofficial sources” saying they can cause computer corruption. Can anyone recommend me a codec site or name to download that is safe?

I use the [K-Lite Codec Pack](https://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm), along with Media Player Classic.

This is always one of the first programs I’ve installed on every new Windows computer I’ve got for the last 15 years or so. No more codec troubles.

I used to use CCCP, but they haven’t updated in years.

Another option that a lot of people use : VLC media player. It doesn’t use external codecs and will play almost anything with a no hassle installation.
