I was driving down the road today listening to the local metal station and Stairway to Heaven came on. I enjoyed it enough but couldn’t remember the last time I heard it on the air. I’ve heard it enough up to this point that I don’t need to go out of my way to actually play the thing. But, on the other hand, I put Iron Man on the other day. It’s cliché I suppose but I still like it. What songs that have been burnt out by overuse do you still enjoy. \*I realize that different posters opinion of what a “good” song is will vary, but hopefully we can make allowances for that. ---

There are the famously irritating ones that I’d be glad to never hear again, but you know, most overplayed songs actually are pretty good. There’s (hopefully) a good reason they get overplayed. And sometimes something is irritatingly catchy, so that I like it while wishing I didn’t. “Sweet Escape” checks a lot of my personal “bad song” boxes, but my brain gets caught on that hook every time, so sue me. And once in a while there’s a song that’s not good and not catchy either, but they play the hell out of it anyway. I can’t remember those ones. Lucky me. 🙂 ---

I said all what I said up there… And then I went onto YouTube to hear a couple of songs over again, and saw a bunch of overplayed titles, and I was like “Ugh, not that one again, no way not that one either”, on and on. So I partly take back what I said about them mostly being good songs. 🙂 ---

I can listen to Dancing Queen Bohemian Rhapsody definitely holds up Even (gasp!) Never Gonna Give You Up But, sorry, YMCA is gonna cringe me. And I can listen once anyway, to Hey Good Lookin (Hank Williams) But “Memory” from Cats … well, something about it just seems to beat a fatalistic warning. 🙂 And the only tune I know written by Merv Griffin, has to be one of the most overplayed titles in the history of the world. So, since I answered that Merv Griffin wrote it, can you guess the tune, but phrase your guess in the form of a question? We’re all waiting… 😃 ---

[The Spirit of Radio](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spirit_of_Radio) by Rush is way overplayed. But it’s a jamm’n song, and I’ll gladly listen to it for the millionth time. ---

In fact, this is me pausing Dead Kennedys (who never got enough airplay, but maybe that’s just me) to youtube those two songs. ---
