Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Bach.

Hey, it could work.

I must have been a stripper in a former life, I LUV most of these suggestions.

I haven’t seen “Push It” (the salt and pepa version) mentioned yet. If I missed it, I apologize. I choreographed a sleazy dance for my dance class to that song, I even named it “Sleaze 101” 😃

I once heard Def Leppard on Howard Stern’s show claiming , with no small pride, that their “Pour Some Sugar On Me” was the #1 song played at strip bars.

Can’t do better than #1, can ya?

(Mind you, this is coming from a 43 year old male who’s never been to a strip bar!)

I can’t believe it took this many posts before this one.

Yankee Rose, David Lee Roth. Best when accompanied by a red, white and blue bikini.

Best stripper performance to a song I’ve ever seen: Proud to be an American by Lee Greenfield. Brings a tear to my eye whenever I think about it.

> I just have to poke fun at some of these suggestions. Crimson And Clover and The End just sound like awful ideas, as does Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

I agree that a lot of these suggestions are awful - there’s no way anyway can do an erotic dance to 90% of them - but I assure you, Crimson and Clover is a great song for stripping. It has a strong bass that starts off slow and builds to a faster section. Stripping - the best stripping - is supposed to make the customers feel that you’re dancing the way you would have sex. It’s not about “dancing” like a Broadway dancer or dancing like you’d do in a nightclub or bebopping around. Forget about the lyrics or the title - stripping should be done to songs that have the appropriate beat. Plus, the older guys really go for songs from their youth.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun is truly terrible. There is absolutely nothing sensual or sexy about that song. And it’s WAY too fast to strip to, unless you go for the wind-up toy variety of stripping.

Seriously, _Gimme Three Steps_ by Skynyrd gets a lot of play in Southern strip clubs.

Here’s some more dance/hip-hop oriented stuff:

_Like Glue_ and _Shake That Thing_ by Sean Paul
_Milkshake_ by Kelis

Ah, yes, but now you bring up a critical issue about the modern strip aficionado – do they want to see an actual erotic dance (never mind a real ecdysiast!) or just naked naughty bits a-shaking?

And in any case, a lot of the suggestions in this thread are not exactly being made “straight up”, which confuses things further.

I never understood the strippers that started out in a bikini. The only “stripping” they did was to take the top off\* of their bikini… so you saw a few more square inches of skin at the end of the song than at the beginning. Booooooring. I always thought it was much more seductive to start off with a lot less skin showing and actually end up taking off a lot of stuff.

Pour Some Sugar On Me does get a lot of play at strip clubs, but it sucks to try to be sexy to.

I have done Peter Gunn on stage and it went over well. Fedora, sunglasses, trench coat…

\*I danced at topless clubs only, never nude.

I suppose you’re right about that. I occasionally watch G String Divas and one time they had this repulsive act of two “sisters” who did no dancing - nothing resembling any form of dancing known to man - as their act. They played horrendous music and wildly shook their enormous silicone-filled mammaries in unison as their stripping act. I found it completely gross and unsexy but someone must like them or they wouldn’t be in business.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun would be a good song for them. Bouncy, jiggly, and idiotic.

That song gets played in every strip club on the planet at least once a night. Fo’ real.

My faves:
AC/DC–
\*Shoot to thrill
She’s got the jack
Dirty Deeds
\*Problem Child
You Shook Me All Night Long

Van Halen:
Drop Dead Legs
\*I’ll Wait
Ain’t Talkin’ 'bout Love
The Cradle Will Rise

Then there’s a random spattering of others…
Rock Candy (Montrose version)
Those Shoes (Eagles or Don Henley, not sure)
Rhiannon (Fleetwood Mac)
On the Edge of 17 (Stevie Nicks)
Would (Alice in Chains)
I could go on all day. I love those old songs.

Agreed, but I have always used elements of “real” dance in my routine. You want to move in a way that is suggestive, but writhing around like you’re actually having sex is just tacky. I enjoy doing a show, rather than just a simulated sex routine. There’s a fine line, I supposed.

Those old rock and roll songs are popular in strip clubs for a reason, they don’t include sex in with the drugs and rock and roll for nothing! haha. Nothing like a great guitar riff to dance to.

That brings me to another good one, Stranglehold, by Ted Nugent. Sexiest guitar riff ever.

You are of course right – I can’t stand strippers/dancers who look like they’re humping The Invisible Man, or worse, the floor. That’s not sexy or sensual at all. I just meant that “good” (to me) stripping or exotic dancing is not about doing a Britney Spears routine without clothes. I like that kind of dancing too – at a club or in a dance (not stripping) show. Your use of “suggestive” is the perfect word. Suggestive of sexuality – not a vulgar pseudo-sex routine.

Again, that’s my preference. Like I said, someone must like the bouncy jiggling boobs in-your-face loud style of dancing – just not me.

</div>

I should also revise my statement about lyrics – I wouldn’t “pick” songs just because of the lyrics – the music’s more important – but some songs’ lyrics really lend themselves along with the music to the suggestive sensuality of the routine. “Skin Against Skin” by DJ Krush & Deborah Anderson is fantastic for that. It would be a great song to do in a paired routine with another dancer – two really hot chicks, that drum beat, those lyrics, kind of “acting out” the song – it’s every man’s fantasy! (Yes, I know it’s not really EVERY man’s fantasy.)

\*Sigh, I’ve got to find me a stripper who wants music and choreography in exchange for a cut of her greatly increased (after I start working with her) tips. \* 😉

Haha, they’re almost as bad as the “stage walkers.” You know, the women who look like they’d rather be anywhere else and just indifferently walk around the stage and pole. Bleh. How boring.

The best dancers I’ve seen are in shape, sexy, graceful, and look like they’re having fun, and they can dance to ANY song that comes on, no matter how dreadful it is. That’s what being a professional is about.
