Australia does seem more like the US in some ways. ISTR that anti-monarchism is much stronger in Australia than Canada for example. Oh and the correct US metric for assessing a state’s goodness is in its distance from Mississippi, not Alabama. As in “we might be 49th in education, but at least we’re not Mississippi” or “our average waistline is 44 inches, but at least we’re not not as obese as Mississippi” or “at least I’m in Alabama.” ---
