A friend of mine wants to make a side trip to London while she is on vacation in Italy. Does anyone know of good websites or airlines to check for cheap flights?

It makes sense to start off with the Lonely Planet forums: [http://thorntree.lonelyplanet.com](http://thorntree.lonelyplanet.com). [www.whichbudget.com](http://www.whichbudget.com) gives details of low-cost airlines (although don’t assume they’re cheaper than ‘normal’ ones)

However, ‘Italy-London’ isn’t much of an itinerary! Where in Italy, what budget, whether the priority is cost/convenience/luxury, these are the details which will make it easier to give advice.

A good site for working out cheap flights across a number of airlines in Europe is one called [Travel Supermarket](http://www.travelsupermarket.com/) - I found this was the best when I was trying to be very budget about travel - allows you to view costs across a few days, so if she’s not stuck to a particular time to travel it’s very helpful.

Other than that, there’s Opodo, Last Minute, Expedia, EBookers and Travelocity.
