You had just turned 32, why did you have to go so young? I wish I could be angry at you for not taking better care of yourself. Why did you have to drink so much? Why didn’t you eat more like you should have? Why, knowing you were positive didn’t you do more? I want to be angry, but I can’t…I know you wouldn’t want it that way. Instead I will choose to remember that you were a good friend. You always had a smile ready and always wanted those around you to have a good time. You always made the best of bad situations and found a way to have some happiness in spite of whatever was going on. You never had a bad thing to say about anyone. You were kind and friendly always. I know we sometimes teased you about your Boston accent, but you always knew it was in good fun. I knew they usually weren’t true, but you always had an entertaining story to tell. You will be greatly missed. Goodbye my friend, save me a seat at the bar and make sure there’s a cold “mah-tini” waiting. ---

Thanks guys, the support is appreciated. I wrote that last night after just getting home from the calling hours/viewing and was still rather shook up. Mostly it was just a shock because it happened so quickly, even his family didn’t know anything that serious was going on. This will sound strange, but if you knew him it would make total sense. He had worked in several hair salons and talked all the time about haircuts and coloring and the like. As a sort of ‘He would have liked this’ thing…I colored my hair last night. It seemed fitting somehow. ---
