My cat [Bo](http://home.comcast.net/~ladidah1/bo1.jpg) was let go in peace yesterday. He had a bad heart, renal failure, and bladder cancer. With medication we had gotten his heart problems under control, his renal failure hadn’t gotten terribly bad yet, but that %$#@ tumor was not able to be operated on. We kept in under control for awhile with meds, but it ultimately got him. Within the last few days he had stopped eating. He had lost half his body weight already and couldn’t lose any more. I got him as a six-week old kitten in 1989. He was a Christmas gift from my sister. He was a pet store kitten, but not a purebred. He obviously had some Siamese in him as he was a beautiful flame-point with gorgeous blue eyes, and a pink nose and pawpads. Until he was 12 he had no medical problems. He had a cancerous lump removed in 2000 and radioiodine for hyperthyroidism in 2004. Between these times he was fat and happy. He was always so gentle with my new cats and kittens (I got 3 extra cats during his tenure) and I never heard him hiss or growl at anybody or anything. He loved to sleep and if anyone in this house was sleeping, Bo would also be there curled up next to them. He was not very graceful - he once fell into our in ground pool, and another time he rolled off the couch onto our dog. I’m so sorry. This hits home especially for me. We lost a cat last year to bladder cancer, and we have one now with kidney failure. My Orson sounds like your Bo, a big cuddler of a cat. ---

I’m very sorry for the loss of what sounds like a very good friend. Be proud that you were able to give your Bo a good, long life, and that you were strong enough to let him go when that long life stopped being a healthy and happy one. I’ll give my kitties extra snuggles tonight on his behalf. ---

You sound like a wonderful cat owner. I’m glad the big snuggly klutz had a loving home with you and a gentle release when it was his time. I hope that sharing Bo’s memory with us here will help you bear the pain. ---
