I can’t believe the level of freak out around here over what seems to be very reasonable adjustments to the intensity of vitriol…why is the ability to be as nasty as possible so critical for anyone’s enjoyment? That strikes me as very odd. ---

Not being able to forcefully insult (“abuse”) other posters, express a desire for their suffering (“wishing harm”), or even put naughty words in a thread title: unreasonable. Oh, and fuck off. ---

I don’t like the new rules either but I can’t see leaving. The reason I pay and stick around is for threads like “The Ron Thread” or the “Blimp of Death” and for people like **Rick** that can help me fix my car or for about anything **Skald** , \*\*Boyo Jim \*_, **Sampiro** or **Hal Briston** writes, or for the nutbars that entertain us with their nuttiness remember **TLDR**? or to find out about --caution TMI --vaginal pimples or get answers fast, or the fact I can ask a question about nuclear chaotic string holes and get a sane answer._ Point is… I love this place. The Pit is…er _ **was** _… fun, but it is but a small part of SDMB. I will miss tuning in to see who is felching what or who is getting sodomized by what appliance/tool, but eh, I guess I can find that over at Yahoo! if need be. \*sorry for the long run on sentence there… I just realized I forgot about the people who correct my grammar and point out when I don’t use “literally” correctly. ---

I just switched over to being a guest. The webmaster or whomever emailed me letting me know that my subscription was running out, told me I’d “lose some privledges” by not reupping my subscription, etc. I emailed whomever back and asked “besides banner ads, what else will be different” and I was told smaller PM storage and some other crap I don’t really care about. I’ve had exactly 11 PM’s in a year, I doubt I’ll miss the “extra storage” and as far as how the pages look, it’s exactly _one_ freaking banner ad different, usually after the first post in a thread. Yikes. ---

It’s about risking getting warned for calling someone a “fat ugly loser\*” because that’s over the line while asking someone if they’re “off their meds\*” is not. \*Actual examples given by **Ed Zotti** in one of the ATMB threads. ---
