And the fact that Google’s business pervades society on nearly every level is not a point in its favor. It’s done some amazing things with that level of integration, but that kind of ties into my stance on this thread: I do not like it when companies are so enormous and pervasive that they wield such leverage over society.

shrug Stop using their products and services, then. You don’t have a problem with Google promoting sexual orientation equality; you have a problem with Google.

I’m of the same mind here as with companies that take a stand against SSM: I really wish corporations would just stay away from political and social issues that have nothing to do with their business.

Google’s big enough now that they’ll probably have a notable influence, and that makes me uncomfortable. They could just as easily have been against SSM.

Count me in the agree camp with this. I remember when the St. Louis Cardinals came out against concealed carry laws in Missouri.

Well who gives a good goddamn what the St. Louis fucking Cardinals, a baseball team, cares about concealed carry? If they supported handing out machine guns to kids, or a mandatory death penalty for handgun possession, what in the fuck does a baseball team know, or have any business being involved in, a gun issue?

Google is the same way. They are a fucking search engine. Link me to the site that matches the terms I type in the little box. The corporation should not spend a dime of investor funds railing against abortion or advocating the ACA, or whatever in the hell they are trying to do. If it doesn’t relate to promoting Google as a company, they are pissing away shareholder money.
