Just today, after years, Chrome disappeared from my imac. When I go to applications, it is not listed. When I go to the Chrome website and follow instructions the .dmg file will not run. When I use safari to go to google and try to drag the chrome icon to the menu bar it does not stick. What is going on here? And how do I fix it?

Thanks

What does “the .dmg file will not run” mean?
.dmg files open and mount a disc image, which will then have Chrome or it’s installer on it.

Consider it a good thing. I use Brave, and it does everything Chrome does and it doesn’t track you. Has a built in ad blocker, private window, private window w/ Tor, all manner of goodies. It seems much faster than Chrome on my windows machine too. The whole layout is very similar to Chrome, there shouldn’t be any learning curve.
