Google News & its new look. Me no like

Because they have a hard time selling targeted advertising tailoring your search and news experience unless they know it’s you.

I just close the popup without even thinking about it.

I still have the old version after initially checking out the new one and declining. Was at my parents for a few days and saw the new one. If mine switches to that I will stop using it.

It’s been prompting me every day lately to switch. And throws in “We’re going to MAKE you switch soon… HAHA”

I envy you for still having the old format. I’ve now switched over to Yahoo News for my regular updates; I was impressed to find how thorough their coverage tends to be.

Give me a positive review so I won’t be as pissed off when they change it.

I still dislike the new format. Cluttered news vomit.

I’m still reading Google News. Between the US and World tabs I described above, I feel like I’m keeping pretty well informed.

Me too. The reason I left yahoo in the first place was that they interspersed ads in with the articles and formatted the ads as if they were articles. My ad blocker zaps the fake articles, so all is well now.

I tried to get used to the new google format but I just couldn’t do it. It’s extremely difficult to read now. I did give it a chance, but it’s just too difficult to use. So I’m back to yahoo.

I checked out Yahoo News yesterday. So much stuff to wade thru! I just tried google news in an incognito window and got the new version. It looks ALOT like yahoo news.

I hate tiles. I think it’s a lazy way to autoformat a page and avoid having any human input.

I still have the old version, so I tried the new version in incognito. Clicked on US News tab. The top three stories were about Israel, a lake in Uganda, and the Japan/South Korea WWII forced labor talks. That doesn’t bode well for me.

And today the new version came up. Still less than thrilled.

Are tiles the way things are arranged, like the big pictures and oversized boxes for some articles? Cuz that’s what I’m not liking.

About the only thing I do like so far is being able to hide categories. Finally got rid of the Tech category, which for me was always about cellphones. Absolutely no use to me.

Not sure why, but all of my “Picks For You” category is about entertainment. I guess that’s what I get for disabling the entertainment category.

I am trying to get the damn thing to stop showing me Astrology stuff. Still failing at that. Customizing my feed has not really enhanced my experience, either.

Yes…

Mine finally succumbed. Something about it doesn’t irritate me as much. che sarà sarà
