GoogleMap Shows the Fronts of People's Houses!!

Could it be from public records of tax appraisals? I put in our house address and got a picture of our next door neighbor’s house. They did some remodeling recently. If they got permits for the work, they would be re-appraised by the county.

With all the empty spots on the street, I know for sure it was taken during the workday. I mean, sure, of course it would. But that’s the ONLY time it’s easy to find a parking spot around my place.

I played around with it and did find our house.
It was taken on a Thursday morning, before 8:00 AM. The trash cans are out on the street, but not yet picked up. The trash guy comes between 8:00 and 9:00 AM on Thursday. Then again, I guess it could have been late Wednesday… I’m over thinking again…

Man, yhey’ve really changed the interface. And the spinny view is quite neat. You can zoom it too.

BTW, what’s that blue thing in the yard?

Yeah, they did my street on bin day too. It’s only one day a week - you’d think that they’d organise their schedule so they didn’t hit neighbourhoods during trash pickup. It isn’t the view of my street I’d like immortalised.

Mapjack will even go for a stroll in the park for you. (Unfortunately, it won’t always link properly, though.)

That is so cool! and creepy!

Me, too. They caught my shit-headed neighbors involved in their favorite activity - standing out on the driveway fighting. What a high-class neighborhood!

Ha! Maybe we’ve hit upon it! The trash guys are taking the pictures! or not.

Wild. The picture of my house is between 1 and a half and two years old; I can easily date it based on the rate I burn through junky used cars.

Not all of us would have been able to see you if you hadn’t, you know, posted the address to your house.

Or under thinking.

Which way are the shadows going?

Heh. Same problem with my mom’s house in Seattle. One of my boys bought it and he hasn’t kept up the yard at all. Mom would be spinning.

I haven’t been there since they tore down the house next door to make room for the Greenwood Library expansion.

This is very cool!

This sucks :frowning: You guys get way cool zooms and streetviews and all I get is a 200 ft view…

But, it is really cool to do virtual walks all around the US!

This is Seattle… it’s cloudy, no shadows…

They’ve done (parts of) Australia too.

Behold the wonder of the glorious historic Traralgon Post Office, as seen on all the local tourism novelties for the 3 tourists a year who want something by which to remember their visit.

I can even tell when they must have driven down my street, to within a few weeks. Our complex was having our garage doors replaced during the summer and fall of 2007, and on the Google map some of the garage doors are the old ones and some are the new ones.

Nice. That whole area is actually quite nice. Thanks!

Do you live in Traralgon? I’m American, but my father was contracted to work at the Loy Yang power plant, so we lived in Traralgon for a year and a half. I haven’t had a chance to get back since I left when I was 13, so it was nice to see the pictures.

This comes in handy when apartment hunting. Quite a few apartments seemed really good on craigslist, only to see on Street View that they’re absolute dumps.

:snort: That wasn’t MY house. Not even my state. What, you tink I is teh stupdiz?

(so I don’t know what the blue thingie is, sorry)
