Iā€™m sorry, but if **Quasi** is so far gone from his condition that he canā€™t participate in discussions in a coherent and rational manner (and all that comes with that- including defending his attacks on others and ideological disagreements from other onto him), then perhaps whoever is caring for him needs to restrict his internet access. This is a message board- one where many a spirited discussion takes place at a rapid and constant pace. People here will attack your ideas and sometimes they will attack you. While I suppose that can venture into the arena of bullying when at its worst, we are all adults here and can leave whenever we please. Including **Quasi**. And frankly, I think anyone acting like **Quasi** is some shell of a man, unable to defend his own words or stand up for them-- well, thatā€™s a whole lot more insulting than any of the ā€œbullyingā€ that went on in this thread. Speaking about **Quasi** like heā€™s some child that needs protecting is far more degrading to someone than calling them a douchebag. ---

I think the remark that set him off was ā€œstupid old douchebagā€, and I think it was the ā€œstupidā€ part that did it. Quasi is losing control of his mind, which understandably frustrates him. Makes him feel ā€œstupidā€ because he canā€™t remember things the way he always has. Being called ā€œstupidā€ probably felt like having his nose rubbed in it. I also think that word choice was intentional, needlessly cruel, and says much about the character of the asshat that used it. ---

One argument in one thread does not constitute bullying. Look, itā€™s been clear for a while that **Quasi** is having increasing difficulty participating here without running into problems. That sucks and Iā€™m hardly happy about it (want to break your heart? Do a search on his posts from several years ago and observe the difference in posting style from then to now) but I think he made the right decision in taking a hiatus while he gets some things figured out. Whether itā€™s having someone monitor his SDMB time somehow, or adjusting medications, or what, I think it was a smart thing for him to do. Heā€™s been very clear on multiple occasions that he _doesnā€™t_ want people treating him like heā€™s made of glass. I think **mhendo** made a very deliberate decision to respect those wishes and post to him as he would post to anyone else who made the same comments, and I canā€™t find fault with that. ---

I have no problem with anyone pointing out that his argument is dumb, but I canā€™t imagine ever referring to anyone who I know is struggling with dementia as ā€œstupidā€ and ā€œold.ā€ Edit: I said I was done, and I am done for real this time.
