# Google's language

I’ve been using the Google search page for years now, and have just run into a new problem. All of a sudden, Google will appear on my screen all in German (with random visits to other languages). I can translate the screen back to English, but it’s sort of irritating that this is required. I checked the settings, and they definitely specify US English. But Google now seems to be randomly ignoring this setting, and speaking whatever language they want.
Maybe I’m lucky that they haven’t gotten a good dose of religion and started speaking in tongues.
I’m asking this questing here instead of at Google, because the Google help procedure is about as useful as tits on a boar hog.

And how do you connect to the internet?
Google will change languages based on where it thinks your IP address is.

I had it suddenly go into Thai search results yesterday—something that had never happened before. I had no explanation for why it might do that. I don’t know Thai and I don’t run searches in Thai either. Often I get a mix of languages in search hits, but I’d never seen it suddenly jump from functioning in English into a language I don’t even use.
