On these issues lately it’s hard to find a prominent Republican politician to even give lip service to opposing Obama’s policies, because they know that both themselves and Bush supported the policies in the past. Talking heads are another story because people can’t vote them out. ---

Speaking as a liberal, my support for a woman’s right to choose is directly tied to what I think about Barack Obama. I used to be solidly pro-choice, but the NSA phone record scandal convinced me that a ban on partial birth abortions was a good idea. When the IRS thing broke, for a while there I was in favor of parental notification laws, but since it turned out that there wasn’t much of a scandal there, I’m against them again. ---

You might learn something important. Another fun fact, it turns out the reason more people say they are “conservative” is because [they like the label](http://www.psmag.com/politics/america-not-as-politically-conservative-as-you-think-26845/), rather than actual conservative positions. ---

Interesting! I used to be in that second group. And pretty much everyone I know is in that group. If they express any financial conservative views, it’s only platitudes that “their team” tells them to say. When you actually talk to them, they don’t actually believe what those words actually mean. And this helps me understand why more and more of these people vote Democrat. ---

The only funny abortion joke in this thread, **Der Trihs’s** Mary joke, is one that would piss off the Republican base big time. I suspect that say’s something about the nature of abortion jokes. They need to find something the kids will find funny, but that doesn’t piss off their base. That may be difficult.
