GOP trying to suppress the Libertarian Party

One could make virtually the same assertions about the Greens.

I will not weep if President Obama benefits at least as much from LP activity in 2012 as GWB did from GP activity in 2000 (just without the need to go to court).

I, for one, am shocked and dismayed by your attitude, KaylaPop! Our motives must retain their pristine purity lest we surrender the moral high ground. I am fraught with sorrow over this, but hasten to remind that sometimes choking down sobs of dismay can sometimes be mistaken for chuckling.

My brief flirtation with Libertarian politics came to and end when I recognized that they will never accomplish anything politically. Their main activity consists of trying to impress others with their ideological purity. Some of them even recognize this about themselves.

We’re still nit-picking the proper name (Sociéte De Pedantreeee sounds so parfaît, n’est-ce pas?)…

… so we just call ourselves The Bricker Bunch.

Over my dead body! His too, most likely.

I remember Ralph Nader talking about this (I believe in the documentary an unreasonable man).

He said in 2004 the democrats came to him and told him if he did not run they would give large amounts of money to various charities he supported. If he did run they would do their best to suppress his ability to get on the ballot, draining his time and money. I believe they also threatened gov funding some of his pet interests, but I could be remembering wrong.

However since right wing authoritarians tend to lean more conservative, I would assume suppression of democracy is going to be stronger on the right than on the left. People who think they are doing gods work are going to be less inclined to respect democracy.

The GOP seems to be trying to suppress everything, this year.

Not merely a thumb in the dike, but each thumb in a *different * dike, each big toe in a different leaky pipe, their tongues in a dripping faucet, & you don’t want to know what’s plugging the hole in the roof.
